This week, ProPublica published an investigative report confirming what many of us already suspected: U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken deliberately ignored the explosive findings of both the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration that Israel had been deliberately blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza, catapulting the population into what USAID called “one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in the world.”

Shortly after receiving these damning reports in late April, Blinken asserted publicly on May 10th that “(The State Department) does not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport or delivery of U.S. humanitarian assistance.”

Why would Secretary of State Blinken deliberately lie about Israeli war crimes that, as detailed by the USAID memo included “killing aid workers, razing agricultural structures, bombing ambulances and hospitals, sitting on supply depots and routinely turning away trucks full of food and medicine”? Because a U.S. law, The Foreign Assistance Act prohibits funding and supplying weapons to any nation that deliberately blocks U.S. humanitarian aid. For Blinken to have told the truth would have triggered that law and ended our government’s funding of this genocide.

As Jill has stressed repeatedly, Israel can’t continue their genocidal campaign against the people of Gaza without the non-stop flow of U.S. weapons and billions upon billions of our taxpayer dollars. Blinken wasn’t going to allow any inconvenient truths about these crimes against humanity to get in the way of his role in aiding and abetting a genocide.

Friend, we have just over a month to reach millions of people with Jill and Butch’s anti-genocide, pro-worker, climate emergency campaign. Jill and Butch are the only candidates on the national stage who are committed to cutting off funding and aid to Israel on day one and ending the illegal occupation of Palestine. Can you dig deep today to make sure that we can get the word out to voters everywhere that they have the choice to vote Stein/Ware in November?

It’s long past time to end the carnage and the lies that have enabled it to go on this long.
