Dear A.,

Israel’s fight to restore safety to its citizens in the north continued today with strikes on a key Hezbollah leader, weapons stockpiles, and the terror group’s ability to import more weapons from Iran via Syria.

In a pinpoint strike today in Beirut, the IDF

eliminated the head of Hezbollah’s aerial forces – Mohammed Srur – who oversaw the terror group’s drone fleet, cruise missiles, and air defenses. He directed numerous attacks against Israel since October 8, and was in charge of Hezbollah’s drone manufacturing operation throughout the country.

Over the last day, the Israeli Air Force has struck 220 Hezbollah terrorist targets in Lebanon.

IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi vowed to continue striking the terror group and dismantling its capabilities, while targeting Iran’s weapons smuggling routes from Syria into Lebanon. "We are constantly working to make achievements, to eliminate more senior officials, to thwart the transfer of weapons, to [destroy] Hezbollah’s firepower, and to attack it in all of Lebanon," Halevi said.

The head of the Israeli Air Force, Tomer Bar,

underscored Israel’s efforts to prevent Iran’s weapons transfers to Hezbollah. "We in Lebanon are now going to prevent any possibility of weapon transfers from Iran, in the face of what we have taken away so far from Hezbollah. This is a mission that is becoming the first in the order of priorities."

America must continue to stand with Israel and ensure our ally has the resources it needs to defend its families and take actions to prevent future attacks.

Security Council Resolution 1701: The Diplomatic Solution the U.N. Failed to Implement

The war in Lebanon is a direct result of Iran’s funding and arming of Hezbollah, and the failure of the U.N. and the Lebanese government to implement Security Council Resolution 1701.

Eighteen years ago, the Security Council passed 1701 to end the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war with clear and specific provisions that were never implemented:
1. Disarm Hezbollah and prevent it from rearming — as well as all other armed non-state groups in Lebanon.
2. Demilitarize southern Lebanon — except for the Lebanese military and U.N. forces.
3. Strengthen the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) enforcement — authorizing it to use force to ensure that southern Lebanon would not be used as a terrorist safe haven for Hezbollah.
