In theory, J.D. Vance’s idea that we can solve the childcare crisis in America by asking Nana and Grandpa for help sounds nice. 

In reality, that’s just not an option for many young families. 

The lack of quality, affordable childcare is a national problem and requires a national solution that works for every family.

Childcare costs are growing even faster than inflation as real wages remain stagnant, and working parents spend an average of $10,000 per year on care. 

Meanwhile, childcare workers are so underpaid that many are leaving the industry altogether. Vance’s proposals only serve to trivialize the struggles of working families and childcare workers while potentially risking young children’s health and safety.

Investing in our children from the earliest stages of their lives should be a priority. Tell Congress: We must invest in quality, affordable childcare.

The United States is the wealthiest democracy in the world, and we can afford to provide exceptional childcare for families earning under $250,000 for just $10 a day. Doing so would support our kids, help parents, strengthen our economy, and create a solid foundation for future generations.
