For six years, Officer Gaitan has risked his life to keep our communities safe. He’s faced dangerous criminals, made split-second decisions, and come home bruised but determined to protect the people he serves. But now, Alex faces a battle that no officer should ever have to fight.

In March 2021, Officer Gaitan did his job—he subdued a violent, drug-fueled suspect who had a history of resisting arrest. Alex used a non-lethal Taser to protect his fellow officers and the public. The situation ended safely because of his quick thinking.

That should’ve been the end of the story.

But it wasn’t.

Nearly two years later, an anti-police District Attorney has indicted Alex for aggravated assault. The suspect who violently resisted four officers is being treated as a victim, and Alex is facing up to 99 years in prison—for doing his job.

This is the heartbreaking reality for Alex and his family. He’s being railroaded by a politically-driven prosecution designed to punish him for upholding the law. Now, his family faces mounting legal bills in a fight to keep him out of prison.
