U.S. awards IJM and World Vision $10 million grant to combat child trafficking in Romania
Nearly 1 in 2 identified trafficking victims in Romania are children, including nearly 3 in 5 who are victims of sex trafficking. Over the next five years, IJM and World Vision will lead a consortium to work with the U.S. and Romanian governments to combat child trafficking and strengthen Romania’s ability to protect children.

According to a 2020 IJM study, 34% of online sexual exploitation cases in the Philippines involve U.S. consumers. This bill will expand the U.S. Department of Homeland Security resources for investigators, analysts and law enforcement to protect over 50,000 children who are still victims of online sexual exploitation.

A surprise government inspection leads to the rescue of 20 children
With IJM’s support, authorities rescued the children aged 12 to 17 and arrested the kiln owner and trafficker. The case took just ten months from rescue to sentencing—significantly faster than the typical 3-4 years—demonstrating the authorities’ commitment to protecting vulnerable children.
