?? 2022 Business Dynamics Statistics Now Available

Today the U.S. Census Bureau announced the release of the 2022 Business Dynamics Statistics [ [link removed] ] (BDS). The data provide measures of business dynamics, such as job creation and destruction, establishment births and deaths, and firm startups and shutdowns for the economy overall and aggregated by establishment and firm characteristics. BDS is an annual time-series, covering the years 1978 to 2022.

Data are available on the BDS website [ [link removed] ], on data.census.gov [ [link removed] ], in the Census API [ [link removed] ], and in BDS Explorer [ [link removed] ] version 1.24.2. The Explorer tool provides access to the entire BDS dataset via line charts, bar charts, and thematic maps. The application's intuitive dashboard allows for the construction of tables and charts to compare and sort measures of business dynamism. The following map from the BDS Explorer shows the net job creation rate by state for Sector 72, Accommodation and Food Services, in 2022.
