The Writ Has Been Dropped and the Election Season has Started
CHBA BC

This past Saturday, the writ was officially issued, kicking off the 28-day campaign period for the 43rd provincial general election. Leading up to election day (October 19), CHBA BC will be on the lookout for announcements on housing platforms to keep members informed on the three main political parties' plans to address the housing supply shortage.

The Conservative Party of BC (CPBC) and BC New Democratic Party (BC NDP) have hit the ground running with the CPBC announcing they would repeal the Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing legislation and provide $1 billion a year for a decade to local governments to fund infrastructure. The BC NDP have announced they would implement a rental insurance program for landlords and introduce a program for middle-income families to purchase a home by financing 40% of the price.
