Leading the School Board Integrity Project is not just work for me, it's deeply personal.
When I was in high school, I was one of the plaintiffs in a groundbreaking discrimination lawsuit against the Anoka Hennepin School District over the discrimination that my LGBTQ classmates and I faced.
It ended in a landmark settlement with the Department of Justice and Department of Education forcing Anoka Hennepin to finally take action to protect students like me from discrimination and allow them the freedom to learn.
Now, we're seeing conservative school boards, including Anoka Hennepin, trying to undo these protections and take us back. I'm going to fight like hell to make sure that no Minnesota student has to endure what my classmates and I did ever again.
