We all know there’s a lot at stake in this election. But this week, we got a really positive indication of just how much progress we’ll be able to make if we succeed in flipping the House, holding the Senate, and electing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this November.
That’s because Kamala Harris just came out in favor of eliminating the Senate filibuster for reproductive rights, alongside key Democratic senators like Bob Casey from Pennsylvania. That’s HUGE!
Time and time in the past, voters have delivered Democrats the White House, House, and Senate on the expectation that we’ll deliver for the people in a big way. And on far too many of those occasions, the filibuster has killed any hope of real progress.
It’s simple: We either protect the filibuster or we protect our rights. If we win this November, we can’t afford to squander the opportunity we’ll have by allowing Senate Republicans like Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz to filibuster bills on reproductive rights and so many other important issues.
But while I couldn’t be happier to see support growing for abolishing the filibuster, the reality is we still have an election to win before we get to that point. And right now, we’re coming up on our final FEC-mandated fundraising deadline before Election Day.
Our $34,000 end-of-quarter goal wasn’t made up out of thin air. It’s the number we need to reach if we want to keep funding all the organizing and outreach work we’re doing both here in Washington and in swing states across the country. And since I don’t take corporate PAC money, I’m counting on your support to reach it.
John, if you’re ready to elect Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Democrats across the country who are ready to deliver real progressive change, including by abolishing the filibuster, then will you pitch in $3 before Monday’s deadline to help us reach our goal?
