Hi John

Today is #GivingTuesdayNow. We often ask for your support to help us in our
mission to end child poverty and, rather than ask again, we thought we’d turn
the day on its head and show you what your support is making possible instead.

We understand how difficult things can be: right now, the everyday is difficult,
overwhelming and uncertain, for all of us. Just a few short months ago there was
an election and we knew the government's agenda. We had published our own
strategy and knew what we needed to do to push for a more secure future for
children and families. Then everything changed 43 days ago, on 23 March.

Since then, we have been overwhelmed by your support. Whether you have shaved
your head to raise funds, have shared our campaigns or given what you can, your
contributions have been sincerely heartening for our whole organisation.

With your contributions, we’ve been able to fund some free, comprehensive and
accessible materials in this time of crisis through our new support platform,
AskCPAG. Whether you need help or just want to understand your own situation a
little better, it is thanks to your support we have been able to produce
informative guides and templates that frontline advice workers can use. Our
teams have also been busily adjusting to the new normal: our advice line has
been responding to the multitude of calls and enquiries as many people find
themselves at the mercy of a benefit, in universal credit, that is still
under-trialled and under-funded. The team works hard to make sure they are
responding to every query and call that comes through with dedication and
accuracy. As Emily, a frontline advice worker told us:

‘It is so useful, at this time of big changes to the benefits system, to have
CPAG to turn to for guidance’

You have been instrumental in sharing our latest briefings, making sure our
campaigns have enough voices behind them to really effect change: with your
support, we can continue to push the government to scrap the two-child limit and
benefit cap, as well as increase child benefit by £10 a week.

There is still a lot to do, but we are in awe of the support you give us and
thanks to it, we will continue to campaign, question and challenge so that we
can bring about an end to child poverty.

Wishing you a restful bank holday weekend,

Carmen and everyone at CPAG
