> Gender-based violence is increasing exponentially. Many women are being forced to ‘lockdown’ at home with their abusers.

> Alongside the increase of violence against women, exposure to COVID-19 is being used as a threat; abusers are exploiting the inability of women to call for help or escape.

> Economic impacts are felt especially by women and girls who are generally earning less, saving less, and holding insecure jobs or living close to poverty.

> School closures could lead to millions of more girls dropping out of school before they complete their education, especially those living in poverty, girls with disabilities or living in isolated locations.
