New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a close ally of Kamala Harris and once seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party, now finds himself at the center of a federal corruption scandal. Indicted by a grand jury, Adams faces serious allegations that could end his political career. The charges stem from claims that his 2021 mayoral campaign received illegal donations from the Turkish government. This indictment has rocked New York City, throwing the mayor’s office into chaos and leading many to question whether the city is on the same path as Chicago under Brandon Johnson.
Adams’ indictment comes after months of federal raids on his top aides and fundraising team.
