Higgins wasn't mincing his misspelled words, either, vomiting on nüTwitter, "Eating pets, vudu, nastiest country in the western hemisphere, cults, slapstick gangsters... but damned if they don't feel all sophisticated now, filing charges against our President and VP. All these thugs better get their mind right and their ass out of our country before January 20th." Higgins later deleted the post, after multiple complaints, including from Congressional Black Caucus Chair Steven Horsford on the House floor, who rightfully submitted a motion to censure Higgins for "bringing discredit and disgrace to the House of Representatives." There are no more dog whistles in the GOP. It's all bullhorns all the time at this point.

For the umpteenth time, the GOP-controlled Congress kicked the funding can down the road with the passage of a temporary funding bill that sets up yet another showdown right before Christmas — but this time, hopefully for a lame-duck GOP majority on its way out the door and into the annals of history as the most unproductive Congress in American history. All the fretting over the past few weeks came to naught as cooler heads prevailed over the demands of Donald Trump, who ordered his sycophantic bootlickers in Congress to shut down the government unless the funding bill contained pointless voter restrictions for people who are already barred from voting. But even House Speaker Mike Johnson and his cronies understood that shutting down the government weeks before an election was maybe not the best pitch for voters after spending two years getting absolutely nothing done.

Lebanon's prime minister also denied an agreement had been reached. Israel's military urged troops to be ready for a possible ground incursion into Lebanon, adding to fears of an all-out war while it continues its offensive in Gaza. "Hell is breaking loose in Lebanon," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, warning world leaders that the crisis is becoming a "non-stop nightmare that threatens to take the whole region down."
