Democracy is more than what happens on November 5. It’s about who has a
say in all the choices that shape our lives. If someone wants to build a
super-prison with our tax dollars (see below) we should get a say. The
people who have experienced our broken criminal justice system or climate
chaos are uniquely qualified to build something better. It’s why DEI is
important: diverse voices mean better democracy and better decisions.
Bringing people together across divides not only strengthens our democracy
– but it is also the only thing that guarantees the future we create will
be a future that works for all of us.
In solidarity,
— Nisha Anand

Imagine this: Your hard-earned money is funding the most expensive federal
prison in U.S. history, but you’re not allowed to have a say in it. Well,
that’s exactly what U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers wants.
He’s secretly slipped a provision called Section 223 into the 2025 House
Appropriations Act, and if it goes through, you could be silenced in the
decision-making process for the ginormous $505 million federal prison in
Letcher County, Kentucky. This provision bars anyone outside of Eastern
Kentucky from taking legal action against this — a project funded by your
tax dollars. [ [link removed] ]Sign our petition to end Rep. Rogers’ sneaky Section 223!

Don’t let our senators delay the green revolution any further. 80 Senators
haven’t said a word about the Energy Permitting Reform Act. 40 percent of
clean energy projects from the Inflation Reduction Act are already
delayed. Don’t settle for more time-wasting! Click below to see if your
senators support moving us toward a renewable future. [ [link removed] ]If they haven’t
spoken up yet, tell them it’s time to break the silence and push our clean
energy economy forward!
