Last night, I voted to temporarily end the brinkmanship and avoid a government shutdown. |
Unfortunately, it’s not the first time in my year in Congress — and we run the risk of being on the brink of shutdown again in late December. |
The dysfunctional, chaotic House Republicans came very close to shutting down our government on the eve of this consequential election. For the sake of unserious, meaningless, and divisive policy provisions, House Republicans were willing to risk economic disruption to families across the country. |
But yet again, my fellow Democrats and I put country over party affiliation to provide the votes needed to keep the government open — an essential function of our Congress. We know it’s time to end this brinkmanship and remain committed to fighting extremism whenever necessary. That’s what I’m hoping voters choose by voting for me this year. |
I know you’re getting lots of emails. I won’t be over the top in my words, but I have a big deadline on Sunday. It’s the last end-of-quarter reporting period before the election on November 5th. |
I’m grateful for your support. I look forward to winning back the House majority in November to finally end this unnecessary brinksmanship. |
