Friend,
Since we started emailing you about the 26 chimps being housed at a government research laboratory, we have found out that two more chimps have died. Meaning that now 20 chimps have died waiting for the National Institutes of Health to move them to Chimp Haven, a forested sanctuary designed specifically for their needs. With 24 more lives still at stake, we can’t afford to take any pressure off NIH now. With you standing behind us, we can push NIH to reverse this awful and illegal stance!
But our limited match expires soon, and we need your help to make the most of this opportunity to make a life-changing difference for chimps, and all animals, by September 30. Will you make a gift of $20 or more now, when every dollar can still be doubled, to help the Humane Society Legislative Fund fight to protect chimps and all animals from harm?
And don’t worry, even though donations that surpass $12,500 will not be matched, they’ll still go towards our work to protect all animals from harm.
With your support, we can help ensure chimps like Bryan have the chance to recover from decades of painful procedures and testing at a biomedical research facility. Before he came to Chimp Haven, Bryan had never been part of a real community of chimps. He spent much of his life confined to a laboratory with other male chimpanzees, enduring endless experiments that drained his energy, health and joy. But at Chimp Haven, Bryan is forging new relationships and stepping up as a kind and confident leader.
Bryan isn’t the only chimp who’s thriving in his new home. His friend Devon, rescued from the same research facility, is always by his side. Seeing both Bryan and Devon emerge from their shells and succeed in completely new social dynamics is powerful proof of their recovery. Every chimp who has been exploited in biomedical research deserves the same as them.
Please, we can’t miss this chance to make a life-changing impact for the 24 chimps still waiting to be released. Help HSLF ramp up our advocacy by making a gift now—before our limited 2X match expires on September 30—so we can fight to protect chimps and other vulnerable animals who need us.
