John, with November right around the corner, I realized it’s more important than ever to share why exactly I decided to run for Congress in the first place.
If you know me — and I’m proud that countless folks across Virginia’s 1st already do — and are already #TeamLeslie all the way, consider chipping in to our campaign fund here. If you’re still on the fence, I encourage you to read on.
John, I was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina, with 800 residents and zero traffic lights. My parents, a corrections officer and a social worker, instilled in me early on the importance of service and giving back where you can — something that I’ve held onto ever since.
It’s a value I held throughout my undergraduate and law school career, and that I lived every day when I became the Legal Director of the ACLU of Virginia, where I fought tooth and nail to advocate for the civil rights and liberties of all Virginians, regardless of political belief.
I did the same when I was appointed by both Ralph Northam and Glenn Youngkin to work under their administrations. And it’s the same reason I’m running for Congress — to give the people of VA-01 — all the people — the leadership they’ve been lacking with Rob Wittman for far too long. We don’t need someone who votes with Donald Trump over 90% of the time — we need someone who votes for our families, our small businesses, and the communities we are proud to call our own.
I’m a mother, a wife, and a proud advocate for the change we need here at home and across the country. I know the issues because I’ve lived them — unlike my opponent who’s had “politician” on his resume for nearly 4 decades.
This is our moment to make a change here in Virginia’s 1st, and I hope that I can count on you to help me do it. Will you send a donation of any amount, be it $50 or just $10, to my campaign today?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process now. |
Sincerely,
Leslie Mehta
