Last month, Wisconsin voters turned out to cast their ballots in person for the Democratic presidential primary elections. And in doing so, they made an impossible choice that no American should ever be faced with: risk your health or lose your access to the ballot box.

We can’t let what happened in Wisconsin happen again. That’s why I’m calling on all state election officials to implement no-fault absentee voting, so that every American is guaranteed the option of voting by mail. Will you join me by adding your name today?

SIGN THE PETITION: WE NEED NO-FAULT ABSENTEE VOTING

In most states, voters can request an absentee ballot without needing to present a reason for why they cannot vote in person. But 15 states still require that voters justify why they need an absentee ballot. We’re living through a life threatening pandemic -- if that’s not a justification for why people shouldn’t be voting at crowded polling places, then I don’t know what is.

We can safeguard public health and our democratic rights, but it’s going to require a swift, unified effort to expand voting access by eliminating the obstacles to casting a ballot safely and securely from home. We need to act now: Demand officials in all states give voters the option to request no-excuse absentee ballots.
