You may or may not know, friend, that I never intended to become Colorado’s Senator.
When I was tapped to fill the vacant seat in Congress, I was working as the Superintendent of Denver Public Schools — and I loved it.
A strong education is one of the most important things in the world. It gives our kids the tools to learn, grow, and succeed.
As superintendent, I helped make quality education accessible to every Denver child. When I left the job to become Senator, enrollment, graduation rates, and test scores were up — but I knew my work wasn’t finished.

In the Senate, I have continued to advocate for our America's children. From making higher education more accessible to all students to my continued fight to pass the expanded Child Tax Credit, our kids' futures remain my highest priority.
My appointment to the Senate was an opportunity to help build a better future for our children, regardless of their race, gender, or socioeconomic background.
This work started long before I came to DC, and it’s far from over.
At the end of this month, my campaign has a critical quarterly fundraising deadline. If we’re going to elect Democratic majorities who will invest in schools and educators and support working families and kids, we need your support. Can you chip in now? [[link removed]]
