John,

I have to share something with you that sent chills down my spine. J.D. Vance - Trump’s campaign - wants to bring back high-risk pools for chronically ill patients like me.

A screenshot of a Washington Post news article with the headline, “Vance floats new health plans for chronically ill, reopening ACA debate.”

As someone with diabetes who has battled insurance companies and high drug costs, I know firsthand how devastating this would be for millions of Americans.

Before the Affordable Care Act, insurers could charge sky-high premiums to people with pre-existing conditions or deny us coverage altogether. Vance's proposal threatens to drag us back to those dark days - or make them even worse.

Vance says the Trump campaign wants to "allow people with similar health situations to be in the same risk pools." That's code for segregating sick people into separate, more expensive plans. Experts warn this would mean much higher costs for those of us with chronic conditions.

I've spent countless hours fighting with my insurance company just to get coverage for my diabetes medication. I've had to jump through hoops - doctor's appointments, phone calls, pharmacy visits - all to access the medicine that keeps me alive. And I'm one of the lucky ones who can navigate the system.

Millions of Americans are already rationing or skipping medications due to cost. Vance's plan would make this crisis even worse.

My opponent, Mike Simpson, has historically supported policies like those proposed by J.D. Vance. This cannot happen, and I need your help now to win this election for Idaho’s 2nd District.

If elected, I'll work tirelessly to expand access to affordable healthcare for all Americans. But I can't do it alone. Can I count on you to chip in $25, $50, $100, or whatever is in your budget today to help me defeat Mike Simpson and flip this seat?

Your support will help ensure that people with pre-existing conditions don't lose vital protections. Together, we can build a healthcare system that works for everyone, not just the healthy and wealthy.

Thank you for standing with me in this crucial fight.

-David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
