Hi there - I just wanted to be sure you saw my message about joining our back-to-school Day of Action this Friday, September 27. Please fill out the form (linked below) to RSVP. Even if you're not sure you can make it, fill out the form anyway so we can be touch about future opportunities. Thanks!
Hi John,
We are organizing a back-to-school Day of Action against the use of facial recognition in schools on Friday, September 27 at 4pm ET and we’re hoping you can join.
Take Action
Facial recognition technology is dangerous—it is biased, invasive, and violates human rights. It is increasingly being introduced in schools, putting kids at risk across the country. No matter the use, whether it’s creepily watching students in class
,1 tracking attendance,2
or monitoring hallways,3
facial recognition is dangerous and puts sensitive data at risk of being abused or stolen.
The Department of Education is a key decision maker on what tech is used in schools. That’s why we are organizing actions in D.C. and other cities across the country, calling on the US Department of Education and state education agencies to take a strong stand against facial recognition and keep it out of schools.
We need people who care about keeping invasive facial recognition tech out of schools to show up and deliver a letter to the U.S. Department of Education in D.C. asking them to act now to ensure a safe environment for kids in schools.
If you are available on Friday, September 27 at 4pm ET, please fill out this form to let us know you’d like to participate. If you are not available that day, fill out the form anyway to stay in the loop and share with others who might be able to attend. Once you submit your responses, our team at Fight for the Future will be in touch.
Hope to see you there,
Ese & the team at Fight
P.S.: Please visit the Ban Facial Recognition in Schools campaign page4 and add your name to the open letter calling on local schools boards, state lawmakers, and the Department of Education to take a stand against facial recognition.
