Lauren is the first woman, first person of color, and first millennial to represent her community in Congress. As a registered nurse and co-founder of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, Representative Underwood works to improve maternal health outcomes and disparities.
Underwood’s agenda for her 4th term includes lowering healthcare costs, protecting and expanding reproductive health services, and preventing gun violence. She believes
“no child should fear for their life at school. No workers should fear a mass shooting at their job. Weapons of war don’t belong in our neighborhoods.”
But she is up against an extreme, anti-abortion Republican who would cut spending for the Department of Education and The Affordable Care Act. And he supports gun ownership with no regulation of infringement.
