I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I’m Kristy McBain and I’ve been endorsed as Labor’s candidate for the upcoming by-election in Eden-Monaro.

It’s no secret that our community is doing it tough. We’ve had a number of horror bushfires. The whole of Eden-Monaro has been affected by the drought. And now we’re seeing another wave of devastation from the coronavirus pandemic.

But instead of getting the support we need from the Federal Government, we’re being forgotten. People are still living in tents and caravans. Workers are being laid off and left behind. Promised assistance hasn’t even made it out the door.

The last six months have shown us what happens when a Federal Government isn’t there for people.

I was with our community during our darkest days – and I want to be there for our community in our nation’s Parliament.

We need a strong local voice for Eden-Monaro, to continue Mike Kelly’s work and to make sure we’re not forgotten. I want to be that voice. I want to be your voice.
