John,
Advocacy works!
Thanks to your repeated messages to your members of Congress, the House of Representatives just passed a stopgap spending bill to keep the government running, without poison pills like requiring proof of citizenship in order to vote.
This could not have happened without the work of supporters like you and our partner organizations.
The Continuing Resolution (CR) has passed the House. Now we move on to the Senate where right-wing lawmakers may still try to add poison pill riders to their version of the legislation. We can’t let that happen.
Rush a donation of $5 to provide us with the resources we need to fight back against harmful and dangerous poison pill policies―and get final spending bills that invest in human needs across the finish line.

This short term funding bill, which averts a government shutdown, runs through December 20th. This means that Congress will have a chance to return after the election to pass full FY2025 funding bills that invest in human needs.
Thanks to your work, we got some wins for vital human needs programs in the short term CR:
-
Extension of a USDA program that replaces stolen SNAP benefits.
-
Extensions of expiring Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funding.
-
Health care provisions including Medicaid funding for the Northern Mariana Islands and delaying pending clinical laboratory payment cuts under Medicare.
We need to increase support for other human needs programs such as housing, nutrition programs, education, child care and early learning programs in the FY2025 bill. We need to continue to reject poison pills that stir up hate and that do not serve the public interest.
Will you donate $5 to help fund the fight to increase funding for critical human needs programs in upcoming legislation?
