Dear John, Abortion providers are working overtime in Oregon. At a legislative committee meeting yesterday morning, pro-abortion witnesses from Planned Parenthood and Oregon Health & Science University spoke about expanded abortion access for Oregonians and out-of-state residents, and proclaimed that Oregon stands at the “vanguard of reproductive health innovation.” “We are proud abortion providers and will always provide abortions,” Sara Kennedy, CEO of Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette told lawmakers. She said her abortion providers “never turn patients away.” The witnesses confirmed that abortion is legally accessible for anyone who requests it, including late in pregnancy. Abortion is legal in Oregon at any stage of pregnancy for any reason. When a pro-life representative asked witnesses to describe how late-term abortion procedures are performed, they refused to answer. The Democratic chairman even shut down any further attempts to get clarity on this important question. This is what we’re up against here in our state. And that’s why it’s so important to vote pro-life this election, ensuring that there are strong, principled lawmakers at the Capitol – in hearings like this one – who will represent the most vulnerable.
