Hi John,
CC believes education is a human right, which is why we fight for Open Educational Resources (OER). UNESCO defines OER as “learning, teaching and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public domain or are under copyright that have been released under an open license, that permit no-cost access, re-use, re-purpose, adaptation and redistribution by others.”
Our licenses are one of the ways education becomes more accessible. CC-licensed open textbooks, for example, can save college students and school districts hundreds of dollars per copy.
We’re making strides: nearly 1 in 3 teachers are using OER in their classrooms, according to new research from Bay View Analytics. Teacher and institutional awareness is one of the primary ways that CC supports OERs and their distribution. Currently, teacher awareness is at a 5 year high and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Thank You!
