I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a few of my reasons why I am running for Congress.
My name is Carmen Goers, I am a mom to four daughters and grandma to four grandchildren with a fifth one on the way. I have raised my daughters
here in Washington State after being a military spouse. I am a commercial banker by trade and have been working in the 8th Congressional District for over 20 years.
We chose Washington over 20 years ago because of the affordability, safety and access to great education. Today my grandchildren are living in a very different time. We have some of the highest crime rates in the nation, a growing fentanyl crisis and families are struggling to afford basic goods, including groceries and gas.
I have been serving my community since moving here. I have served on numerous boards both public and private. I have served in a prison ministry and on the Auburn Human Services Committee.
As a commercial banker, I have seen what over-regulation and taxation does to our business community. In Congress, I am ready to fight for our business owners, make sure their voices are being heard, and that we work to repeal regulations that are harming our small businesses.
Now, let
me tell you about the race. I am facing a well-funded incumbent who has done nothing meaningful for our communities. She’s voted against our law enforcement officers multiple times, supports banning natural gas, and wants to make our groceries more expensive. She is out of touch with what our community needs.
During the primary, I was able to get the support of over 94,000 voters, taking home 45% of the vote. We are within striking distance of a victory, taking five of our six counties
by over 10%, and in one county by over 20% -- something that hasn’t happened in a while.
I have a goal for September of getting $50,000. This will allow us to get our message out even further. We are so close to meeting that goal but I still need your help. Please donate today and help me make a change for Washington.
