I don’t have a typical resume for a member of Congress. I’m a former MMA fighter who was raised by a single army mom, was a first-generation college student, and worked multiple jobs to pay my way through college and law school.

When I won my first election, I made history. Not only did we flip a seat that Republicans had held for the prior 8 years, but I became the first LGBTQ+ Native American woman ever elected to Congress. And today, I’m still the only federally elected Democrat in our state.

I' m pretty proud of where I came from — but I’m even prouder to use my voice to fight for real progress for the people of Kansas every single day. Day in and day out, instead of embracing the chaos of Speaker Johnson and his extremist allies in the House, I’ve worked to deliver common-sense solutions — because that’s what the people of Kansas elected me to do.

Together, we created over 20,000 clean-energy jobs right here in KS-03. We slashed the cost of insulin for seniors , and passed the most far-reaching gun violence prevention law in a generation.

But our work is far from finished. I’m determined to restore abortion rights, defend our democracy, and make our economy work better for Americans who are struggling today — and this next election will determine whether we have the opportunity to do it.
