Dear John,
As head of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, I hear many inspiring stories of hope and
healing. But there’s one that really moved me recently.
Luca was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer at 18 months old. But today Luca is cancer-free
and thriving because our doctors were able to treat him with a leading-edge regimen of
chemotherapy. Our experts are focusing on caring for kids like Luca every day as they work
tirelessly to make scientific discoveries aimed at improving and saving the lives of
children diagnosed with cancer.
We have a goal to raise $100,000 this Childhood Cancer Awareness
Month to fund even more effective treatments for kids like Luca. Every donation made to the
Children's Fund will be matched dollar for dollar—but only until the end of the month!
Can we count on
you for a gift
of $10
to ensure that kids like Luca have a greater chance at survival? Give now to make
TWICE the impact for children.
And for every gift
of $35 or more, a CHLA patient will receive a signed copy of the book "Hi, Juice
Box! Juice Box Stays at the Hospital." This special children's book introduces
the people and places a kid might encounter at the hospital in a fun, accessible way—a
team of clinicians at CHLA were actually involved in advising the author. "Hi, Juice
Box!" can help kids who will be spending a lot of time in the hospital better cope with
a difficult experience.
For six months, Luca underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. But through all this
treatment, his parents had one source of comfort: They knew Luca was getting the very best
care because he was here with us at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Every child who comes in our doors receives the care that is at the forefront of pediatric
medicine because CHLA is not just a hospital—we’re also a leader in childhood
cancer research in the United States. So the latest discoveries are fast-tracked to kids
like Luca who need it most.
Please donate
$10
for Luca and thousands of kids like him today. There is no better way to honor Childhood
Cancer Awareness Month than to give a gift that can save kids’ lives.
The Cancer and Blood Disease Institute cares for more than 40,000
kids every year—and your support makes it possible. Your donation can fund the next
major treatment breakthroughs—and so much more:
- With more than 1,600 ongoing clinical research studies, CHLA is one of the largest and
most productive pediatric research facilities in the United States, providing access to
the most cutting-edge treatments.
- The Cancer and Blood Disease Institute at CHLA is the largest childhood cancer care
program in the Western United States, so our team of top medical professionals is
providing child-focused, compassionate care to children from all over the world.
- Every day, our team is advancing new lifesaving treatments for children with cancer,
delivering the best possible outcome and the highest chance of a cure through tireless
research.
For every sick or injured child who enters our doors, there’s a family like
Luca’s that’s placing their trust in us. Please support
CHLA today so we can do what they’re trusting us to do: give their child
the gift of health.
With all our gratitude,
