Dear Friends,
Fall is here, Michigan, and there’s no better place to enjoy it than our pleasant peninsulas.
Whether you are admiring the beauty of changing leaves, visiting your favorite cider mill, or enjoying a campfire in your backyard, there are endless ways to enjoy a Pure Michigan fall.
Every fall, our hardworking local farmers bring fresh, seasonal produce to our tables. I encourage everyone to support them by choosing Michigan-grown fruits and vegetables and visiting a Michigan cider mill, apple orchard, or pumpkin patch.
To find harvest festivals, farmer’s markets, and other fall fun, check out Michigan.gov/DNRcalendar for a list of events happening all around the state.
As governor, my administration has invested a record-breaking $780 million in our state parks, trails, and other outdoor facilities to help more Michiganders experience our state’s natural treasures like the beauty of the fall season. See the details below.
This fall, let’s take pride in Michigan’s natural beauty and agricultural industry. From vibrant foliage to fresh cider, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s continue to embrace the outdoors and support our local farmers and businesses.
Happy fall, y’all.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Whitmer
Governor

Making Record Investments in Michigan's Outdoor Recreation |
|
Since I took office, my administration has invested a record-breaking $780 million in our state and local parks, trails, and other outdoor facilities to help increase accessibility, improve infrastructure, and support recreation businesses across Michigan.
Supported directly by the Biden-Harris administration’s American Rescue Plan, these historic investments have helped strengthen our economy, increase tourism, support thousands of small, outdoor recreation businesses, and expand access to the outdoors for even more Michiganders.

The balanced, bipartisan 2024 state budget established the Nature Awaits program, which provides every Michigan fourth grader a free field trip to a state park — including during the fall season.
Our state and local parks are vital to local economies, creating jobs and providing spaces for lasting memories.
I remain committed to investing in our parks and public lands so future generations can enjoy all that Pure Michigan has to offer.
