John,
My name is Jamarr Brown, executive director of Color Of Change PAC. I’ve worked in progressive politics for more than 15 years — on campaigns for local, state and national candidates and for organizations like the Texas Democratic Party and Planned Parenthood — and I couldn’t be more excited to now be guiding our work to engage with and mobilize Black voters in this critical election cycle. In a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a donation to fuel our grassroots organizing operation. But first, I want to talk about one of the reasons that brought me to this work.
I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. When I was in high school, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. My family struggled to pay the bills to ensure that she could get the adequate care that she needed. I know the helplessness many across our country feel trying to get to the doctor, navigating insurance companies and calling elected officials only to be told, “Just figure it out.” Luckily for my family, we were able to receive help from Medicaid that ended up saving my mom’s life.
I’m here now because I know that so many Americans are facing issues like mine across the country, and that this November will be critical to electing officials – from our local prosecutors to the President of the United States – who will be accountable to our communities and will help fight for the change we deserve. Black voters will play a crucial role in deciding the outcome of this election. And I know that Color Of Change PAC can be there for Black voters in a way that no one else can.
With a gift to Color Of Change PAC, you’ll be helping to fund organizing events like our National Justice Call, where we trained folks to talk to their friends and family about what’s at stake this election season and how to create a meaningful plan to get them to the polls. You’ll be contributing to our work to make voting a positive, affirming collective experience, which is how we win. With so much at stake this election, it’s up to us to protect ourselves, our families and our communities. Chip in $25 or more today to fuel our movement to build Black political power!
Until Justice Is Real,
Jamarr Brown
