John,
We have seen an alarming rise in anti-immigrant rhetoric from **public officials** [link removed] and **political leaders** [link removed] - including the rapid spread of baseless rumors about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. This dehumanizing language has real consequences.
**Urge your political leaders and public officials to reject anti-immigrant rhetoric and work to find meaningful, bipartisan solutions.** [link removed]
This rhetoric is not only counter to our values, but also antagonizes the American public. We **recently conducted polling** [link removed] with The Bullfinch Group and the results demonstrate that Americans overwhelmingly prefer political candidates who focus on solutions for our immigration system rather than employ negative rhetoric about immigrants. We **deserve leaders** [link removed] who will reinforce the United States' moral standing in the world as a welcoming and compassionate nation, and who honor the human dignity of all people through our words and actions.
It has been close to four decades since Congress last passed meaningful, constructive immigration reforms. We simply cannot accept scapegoating and demonization of our immigrant neighbors through extremist, anti-immigrant rhetoric. In the face of polarization, real leaders are those who speak to our common humanity to unify us, work to find bipartisan solutions, and encourage welcome.
**Call on our leaders to reject anti-immigrant rhetoric!** [link removed]
Thank you for your support,
Becka Wall
