As my preferred presidential candidate for the 2016 race fell by the wayside, I reconsidered my thoughts. I still had no hate or affection for Trump, but as we all learned, the only alternative was Hillary Clinton; he grew more acceptable to me and many others.
Interestingly, at the same time, many others developed a hatred of him. There was little explanation of this other than that he was challenging the establishment and the Clinton dynasty. While she had no serious redeeming values, Mrs. Clinton had strong connections to those controlling much of Washington. The CIA, FBI, and many other insider organizations decided to take political sides. Since then, they have worked to demean and destroy not just the work of Mr. Trump but him as a person. It started during the 2016 campaign but has intensified even more in the last year. He has been attacked by not just liberals but also much of the establishment that felt threatened by his fresh thinking.
Many of us have developed a better understanding of his values over the years. While we might not always appreciate his personality and bombastic speech, we have learned to look past those differences.
Stopping Trump
Consider the ways the establishment has tried to block him from not only running for office again or even existing.
Lawfare. Bias courts stacked cases in New York, Atlanta, and elsewhere. Those cases have tied him up in court and have no basis in actual law. They were hoping to destroy him, his business, and his family.
Several states fought to prevent the Trump name from being printed on or allowed on their state ballots. In other cases, the Democrats blocked any challengers to Biden and Harris, even though they were aware of Biden's shortcomings, knowing that Harris would be long-term.
Consider that the establishment wouldn’t even allow Robert Kennedy Jr. to be nominated as a primary candidate as a possible replacement.
Assassination. Twice now, those in charge in Washington have allowed those who want to harm Trump to get into position for this to happen. Due to luck and on-the-ground agents, he has survived so far. At the same time, supporters have been killed or wounded. In Washington, President Biden decided to refuse Secret Service protection to Robert Kennedy Jr, despite the murder of his father and uncle. To Biden and the establishment, protecting one less challenger was less important than protecting Biden’s extended family. Repeatedly, Harris, Biden, and surrogates have used language that makes it acceptable to eliminate Trump by comparing him to Hitler and others. They use his words out of context to make him sound like he is a threat to our democracy, ignoring his explanation that he wants to build back our economy.
