Will you deliver Emergency Birth Kits to mothers around the world?

USA for UNFPA

Even in the face of war, violence, disaster, and uncertainty, too many women are forced to give birth under dangerous conditions. Many are left homeless or separated from their family and support systems shortly before they go into labor.

UNFPA ensures these mothers have a safe delivery by providing them with Emergency Birth Kits.

These kits contain a bar of soap, a plastic sheet, a razor blade, an umbilical cord tie, cloth, and latex gloves. These basic items provide mothers with a sanitary place to give birth and the tools to care for themselves and their babies after delivery.

Emergency Birth Kits cost only $5 to make, but have a priceless impact on the women and newborns they help. Will you make a gift that can deliver Emergency Birth Kits to mothers in the most dangerous places around the world to give birth?

DELIVER EMERGENCY BIRTH KITS

Lena in Kenya

In Kenya, Lena fled into the bush after assailants attacked her village. That night, Lena went into labor and gave birth to her son. Luckily, she had an emergency birth kit that had been distributed to her earlier in her pregnancy. “That, I believe, is what saved my life.”

Phu Tu Nee in Myanmar

In Myanmar, Phu Tu Nee is one of over 300,000 “forgotten” Rohingya who are living in camps and villages under severe restrictions. Phu Tu Nee went into labor during a monsoon, making it impossible for her to reach a health facility. Fortunately, a UNFPA mobile clinic had given her an Emergency Birth Kit, which she used to safely deliver her baby boy.

Every day, more than 500 women die in humanitarian settings from preventable maternal deaths. But unlike Lena and Phu Tu Nee, these women never had access to an Emergency Birth Kit or delivery care from a health professional.

With your help, we can reach even more women with the essentials they need to safely give birth. Will you deliver lifesaving care by sponsoring Emergency Birth Kits today?
