I’m reaching out to you today with important information about the state of my Senate race in Maryland. Please take a minute to read my full message today.
There are only FIVE DAYS until my last FEC quarterly fundraising deadline before Election Day.
That’s just five days to raise every penny we can before we are legally required to report our fundraising total for the past three months to the Federal Election Commission.
If we want to reflect the monumental strength of our movement–and show everyone watching this race unfold that we are in a strong position for the final stretch–we must make this the strongest fundraising quarter possible. Now is the time to take action.
Everyone–from partisans in Washington and the national media to my opponent in this race–will be looking at these fundraising numbers to determine the strength of our campaign heading into the busy final stretch before Election Day.
And, with my race in a DEAD HEAT, every dollar will make an important impact.
This is already the most expensive race I’ve ever run and it’s about to ramp up to the next level.
Every dollar counts in a race as close as this one, so your support ahead of the FEC deadline is crucial. Grassroots support is the only reason we’ve gotten this far, and it will be the only way we’ll come out on top in this race.
Throughout this Senate race, my opponent and her national Democratic allies have scaled up their personal attacks and devoted more funds to bring down this campaign. We expect them to scale up even more the closer we get to Election Day.
Not only am I the underdog in this Senate race, I’m fighting an uphill battle to return common sense and principled leadership to Washington.
But we’re used to difficult races. We have always been an underdog. They have always counted us out. But every single time—together—we have beaten the odds.
I decided to take on this challenge because I have never been more concerned about the direction of our nation. There are times in history when we desperately need leaders to step up and put the country first, and I believe this is one of those times.
If you agree, your support will go a long way right now.
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
