Tomorrow, May 5 is #GivingTuesdayNow -- a day encouraging global generosity. May is also Community Action Month, a month set aside to highlight the incredible impact that Community Action has on communities across the United States.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has made us shift the way we serve clients at CMCA, our staff has remained committed to ensuring that the needs of clients are being met.

To address these needs we are:

Accepting and processing Low Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications to ensure that families stay warm and have electric and gas power.
Supporting small business owners and entrepreneurs using online webinars and counseling. These services are being offered through the Missouri Women's Business Center.
Supporting families with online classes in our Show Me Healthy Relationships program.
Educating Head Start children and supporting their families by staying connected with GoogleMeet.

Your support on May 5th will ensure that families who have suffered job loss and who are struggling to fulfill basic needs, can have resources to not only survive the current pandemic, but to thrive long after it is over.

P.S. Did you know that the CARES Act encourages people to donate to charities by allowing them to deduct up to $300 of cash contributions on their taxes even if they do not itemize? The new law also suspends the limit on charitable deductions for cash contributions by people who itemize. Now is a GREAT time to give!
