Can you envision a world where quality eye care is available—everywhere—and people live free from preventable blindness? Friend, this vision can be a realitywith your help.
Orbis is the only eye care nonprofit delivering sight-saving programs in over 200 countries and territories. Not only do we focus on fighting preventable and treatable vision impairments, but we’re also dedicated to building lasting structures that can deliver the type of care needed for generations to come. This is made possible through the four T’s—Training, Teamwork, Technology, and Treatment.
Cybersight, our telemedicine platform, provides access to eye health professionals in countries and regions where learning resources are limited. They can consult with surgeons on complex cases from any part of the world—like how Dr. Olena Hurzhii was able to expand her expertise in Uveitis.
Dr. Hurzhii is an ophthalmologist at Visium Eye Care based in Kyiv, Ukraine and has submitted nearly 90 consultations—making her one of the most active Ukrainian users on the platform. Through Cybersight, she was able to connect with Dr. Ramana Moorthy from Indianapolis, Indiana who is also an active member and has consulted on over 250 cases. Together, they have been able foster a mentor-mentee relationship and expand Dr. Hurzhii’s knowledge of Uveitis, an inflammation of the eye, despite the ongoing war in Ukraine making it difficult to travel and reducing training opportunities.
Our goal is to improve the skills and expertise of eye care teams around the world, so more people can access quality care, ensuring that facilities are locally led and locally owned – the key to sustainable eye care access.
