$221 million plus. That’s how much the gun lobby has invested in lobbying Congress, even after 14 students and three staff members were massacred at my high school in Parkland, Florida — the deadliest high school shooting in American history.
$13. That’s how much money per United States high school student that Republicans have taken from the gun lobby. That’s the price of student lives for Republicans, as they continue to block any progress on gun safety reform.
$100,000. That’s how much I’m helping Adam Schiff raise by his FEC quarterly deadline next Monday so he has the resources to defeat Republican extremism and become California’s next U.S. Senator.

In the House, Adam has led the effort to repeal a 2005 NRA-backed law that gave the gun industry a legal liability shield to protect them from lawsuits — the only billion-dollar industry to be protected from civil liability for the countless lives that their greed and negligence have destroyed.
President Biden has even called legislation like Adam’s the “one thing” he would get done if he could — because both he and Adam know that the only way we will get the gun industry to change is by hurting their bottom line.
Adam has fought for gun violence victims, survivors, and their families’ right to have their day in court. He helped push the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act through the House — the first federal gun safety law in three decades.
It expanded background checks for buyers under 21. It funded state red flag laws and crisis intervention programs. Cracked down on gun trafficking and straw purchasers. And it partially closed the “boyfriend loophole.”
But we have not gone nearly far enough.
Adam has pledged to do whatever it takes — including overriding the Senate filibuster — to get comprehensive, common-sense gun safety legislation passed, starting with an assault weapons ban, truly universal background checks, and his bill to hold the gun industry accountable.
