Those affected by sexual exploitation cannot "quarantine" away the abuse.

Dear Friend,

Even during this time of uncertainty and confusion, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation has been working harder than ever to ensure sexual exploitation, and especially the people directly affected by it, do not go unnoticed.

As the COVID-19 pandemic forces shut-downs, school closures, and orders to stay home, it’s the unfortunate reality that sexual exploitation and those affected by it cannot simply escape or “quarantine” away the abuse and vulnerability that comes with economic downturns.

Everything we do is because of generous supporters like you, and we wanted to reach out to let you know some of the things we’ve been working on:

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we started a campaign to help individuals and families feel safe online. We’ve generated hundreds of emails to public officials about important legislation, been featured in multiple media outlets, and seen some incredible victories!

We are working tirelessly to make sure these issues stay in the public discourse and have been mentioned in more than 70 news stories since the quarantine began.

We have met with and pushed the most popular online platforms to make big changes to create safer spaces for users, especially kids, right now. We’ve instigated major changes at Snapchat, Instagram, Google, TikTok, and Netflix in recent weeks. No other organizations are at the table with the companies making sure that they improve their policies around grooming, pornography, Internet safety, sex trafficking, and other threats.

We have been pushing critical policy solutions like the EARN IT Act, designed to hold Big Tech accountable, to keep our kids safe, and combatting efforts to sneak in legalizing prostitution (thereby pimping and sex buying, too) in two states while people are not paying attention.

Our Law Center is gearing up for more landmark lawsuits against the commercial sex trade, and we’ve already engaged in one against hotels. These industries must be held accountable under the law!

The 2020 Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation Global Summit is going online and will be the LARGEST worldwide gathering of abolitionists! Join us and thousands of attendees as we share, learn, and grow with each other in the movement!

We still care, and we know you still do too. That’s why tomorrow is the perfect time to reach out and join in #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity that is taking place on May 5, 2020.

Please use this #GivingTuesdayNow as an opportunity to join in the global community and help the National Center on Sexual Exploitation fight for a better, safer community free of pornography, trafficking, abuse, and all forms of exploitation.
