John — in a minute, I’m going to ask you to chip in $30 to help elect three bold climate champions running for Portland City Council (That’s just $10 for each candidate). [[link removed]]

Now before you ask, "Why should I care about Portland City Council?" I’ll give you three solid reasons why supporting these climate champions matters — no matter where you live.

1️⃣ Time is running out. Despite Portland’s reputation as a progressive city, the city council has sidelined strong climate action when we need it most. We have just a few years left to significantly reduce planet-warming carbon emissions to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis. If we don’t elect pro-climate leaders now, Portland will fall further behind on climate progress, with disastrous consequences for our movement nationwide.

2️⃣ These campaigns rely heavily on grassroots donations. Our endorsed candidates Mitch Green, Candace Avalos, and Michelle DePass don’t have the luxury of deep-pocketed donors, and state campaign finance law means JanePAC is limited to email fundraising and social media to support their campaigns (instead of traditional investment). A donation from you goes a long way. [[link removed]]

3️⃣ The climate crisis doesn’t respect city limits. Even if you don’t live in Portland, your involvement matters. In our gridlocked national environment, sustainable state and local policies are one of the best ways to combat the climate crisis. And remember: Climate disasters don’t respect city limits. Worsening hurricanes, wildfires, and heatwaves will impact you no matter where you live, so you have a stake in ANY election where a climate champion is on the ballot!

Meet the Candidates:

🌍 Mitch Green, Portland City Council District 4: Mitch is an Army veteran, community college professor, and energy economist. Mitch is committed to holding the fossil fuel industry accountable for the harm they cause to our communities. On the city council, he’ll take action to make Portland a leader in solving the climate crisis by prioritizing climate resiliency, championing workers’ rights, and driving investments that transition Portland to a green economy.

🌍 Candace Avalos, Portland City Council District 1: A dynamic leader, Candace is committed to fulfilling Portland's environmental justice commitments. Her unique perspective as a 'Blacktina' will enrich the Portland City Council.

🌍 Michelle DePass, Portland City Council District 2: Michelle is a dedicated community advocate and a climate change analyst for the City of Portland. She has a strong track record of inclusion and breaking down barriers to civic participation. As the first Black woman to chair the Portland School Board of Education in its 170-year history, Michelle led the creation of a youth-driven, community-based climate commission to tackle climate challenges within the school district. As a city councilor, she will champion a just transition to a sustainable future for all Portlanders.

What do you think, John? Will you join me with a $30 donation, evenly divided among my three climate champions of the week? Your support could be the boost they need to win! [[link removed]]
