Like you, I have been closely tracking the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on communities around the world. I have been particularly heartbroken by the unbelievably irresponsible and cruel response of the meat industry to this international crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare the fundamental abuse, recklessness, and greed of the factory farming system.

Billions of animals and millions of humans have always suffered behind the walls of factory farms. Incredibly, life has become even worse for them, as meat producers force their workers to put their lives on the line and cull animals by the millions, all in the name of cheap meat. More than ever, it’s time for us to come together and fight to repair our broken food system.

I have been impressed by the resilience of our community of changemakers. Despite this time of terrible stress and hardship, many of us are eager to seize this opportunity for change. Today, and in the coming weeks, I’m asking you to join me in taking a stand against the meat producers themselves.
