### **Election Experts Worry There Will Be Trouble in Key States**
Election experts are concerned about potential delays and chaos in vote counting for the 2024 presidential election, particularly in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina, due to new voting laws and the handling of mail-in ballots. States like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have not allowed early processing of mail-in ballots, which could lead to significant delays in final vote tallies, while Georgia's new rule for manual ballot counting at polling places might slow down the results process.
Additionally, North Carolina's first-time photo ID requirement for the general election and Arizona's new law for counting same-day ballot envelopes are expected to complicate and delay vote counts, potentially undermining public confidence in the electoral process.
When Al Schmidt, the Pennsylvania Secretary of State, was asked about the time lag, he commented, “It’s obviously a concern. That period of uncertainty is something that is exploited by bad-faith actors to undermine the confidence in the outcome.”
