Team,
In today’s Being Frank with Frank e-newsletter, I want to talk about our public education system in Northwest Indiana and how we need to step up our game.
I am running for Congress because I believe we must do more to express appreciation to our incredible teachers and make investments in our public education system.
Here’s the list of things that I will focus on:
Support teachers
I was proud to stand with thousands of teachers last November in Indianapolis to demand that they receive the pay that they deserve for educating the next generation of thinkers and problem solvers. As your Member of Congress, I will continue to support financial assistance and the rights of teachers, and also express at every opportunity the incredible value of the profession of being a teacher.
Public funds for public schools
It is deeply regrettable that public schools are closing in Northwest Indiana and your taxes are being raised because public funds are being diverted to charter schools. I am opposed to charter schools receiving public funds, and in Congress I will fight against the harmful policies promoted by current Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. I believe that our taxpayer dollars should be used to strengthen our public education system.
Reduce the cost of higher education
More must be done to make it easier for individuals to receive the education or apprenticeship programs they want that helps them reach their full potential. Student debt is a legitimate and growing concern for too many individuals and families in our region and throughout our nation. As Congressman, I will work to stop predatory lending and ensure that the federal government takes greater action to support robust student loan assistance and forgiveness programs.
As always, our campaign will work to be a trusted and dependent resource for those in need. And as your Member of Congress, I will continue to work to ensure that all individuals and families have access to high quality education.
Help me get to Congress by making a contribution now!
Thanks for your support, team. I can’t do this without you.
Stay safe,
Frank
