John, it's Congressman Hank Johnson. On National Voter Registration Day, I want to remind you that the fight for voting rights is ongoing.

That's why I'm sending you a picture of my arrest, from when I protested the filibuster that prevented the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the For the People Act in 2021:

John, I will always fight to the end to make sure folks get the representation and the voice they deserve.

The arrest didn't deter me from continuing to fight to strengthen the people's power, and I'm still working every day in Congress to restore our rights. But because of MAGA politicians and far-right rhetoric, our Democracy is in jeopardy—and my Congressional seat along with it. Before I tell you about why this race is critical to protecting voting rights, could you chip in to help me defend my seat?

John, voter suppression is an ongoing issue, especially in our state, after the Supreme Court decision in 2013 crippled the strength of protections in the 1965 Voting Rights Act… I mean just last year the Georgia GOP was forced to create new congressional and statewide district maps because the Republican-controlled legislature tried to (and succeeded in 2022) to illegally dilute hundreds of thousands of Black votes!

That's why since I've been elected, I've championed bills and resolutions meant to:

👍 Expand voter registration through automatic and same-day registration
👍 Expand voting access by easing restrictions on vote-by-mail and early voting
👍 Limit unnecessary voter-roll purges
👍 Establish independent redistricting commissions to carry out congressional redistricting
👍 Restore the Voting Rights Act's preclearance provision, requiring certain jurisdictions with extensive histories of voter suppression to secure federal approval before enacting voting changes.

And I'm not going to stop until these get passed and ALL of our voting rights are protected.

John, it is our constitutional right to vote—but right now, MAGA extremists are working around the clock to defeat me this fall and put a stop to these kinds of protections in Congress. Will you make a donation today to help me defend my seat and continue fighting to expand our rights?

In Solidarity,
Congressman Hank Johnson
