Last week, I went to Arizona to endorse two outstanding Social Security champions: Kirsten Engel and Dr. Amish Shah. They are both running for the U.S. House, in two of the closest races in the country.

Engel and Shah are taking on Republican incumbents with terrible records on Social Security. Engel’s opponent, Juan Ciscomani, pretends to be a “moderate”, but he’s signed on to a plan to slash Social Security and raise the retirement age to 69.

Shah’s opponent, David Schweikert, has voted to cut Social Security or Medicare 12 times — and he frequently gives speeches on the House floor demanding cuts.

Engel says that “The people of Arizona’s sixth congressional district deserve a leader who will fight to protect and expand, never cut, Social Security’s guaranteed benefits.” And unlike his opponent, Dr. Shah will NEVER vote to cut our earned benefits!
