Hi,
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is threatening to force
Palestinian civilians out of northern Gaza.^1 Another wholesale act of
violence against 300,000 Palestinians in the northern part of the Gaza
Strip who’ve endured nearly a yearlong Israeli bombing campaign.
At the same time, Israel has launched devastating attacks against Lebanon,
killing over 500 people.^2 Days ago, the Israeli army remotely exploded
electronic devices in the grocery stores, streets, homes, and buses of
Lebanon, killing 37, including 2 children, and injuring thousands.^3
While Netanyahu travels to the U.S. to make a speech in front of the
United Nations this week, Senator Bernie Sanders is calling for an end to
U.S. weapons support for Israel’s mass violence in Gaza and Lebanon.

These latest atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon come after Israel’s war
against the Palestinian people has killed over 41,000 civilians. As long
as the United States is supplying bombs and other weapons to Israel, our
government is supporting Netanyahu’s devastating campaign.
“Much of this carnage in Gaza has been carried out with U.S.-provided
military equipment,” Sen. Sanders said. He added, “Providing more
offensive weapons to continue this disastrous war would violate U.S. and
international law.”^4
Bernie’s campaign is a direct repudiation of the months and months that
the Biden administration and Congress have continued their funding and
weapons support of Netanyahu’s regime.
Hamas's attacks beginning on October 7 must be condemned but Israel's
response has been disproportionate and taken an extraordinary civilian
toll — all while America has supplied the bombs and funding Israel has
used to kill tens of thousands of Palestinians.
If enough of Congress gets behind this resolution, it could lead to a
major shift in U.S. policy on Gaza and send a strong signal to Netanyahu.
