John,

Families across the country are struggling to take care of kids and sick loved ones and still keep their jobs.

Congress must include Paid Family Leave in the next coronavirus relief package. This policy is long overdue and is especially important to me as the mother of a young child.

No one should go into debt or lose their jobs for having a baby or caring for a family member, and yet—

One in four moms return to work just ten days after childbirth.

One in six people spend 20 hours a week taking care of sick or elderly family members.

An unexpected life event shouldn't cost you a paycheck. This was already a serious problem across the U.S. before this global pandemic. Now, it's gone from bad to worse.

One of my proudest moments as a government official for the state of New York was helping to pass Paid Family Leave for New Yorkers.

Congress has a real chance to make this right and put families first. If not during a public health crisis, then when?
