Dear Neighbor,
Serving as your representative in Congress is the honor of my life. While I look forward to my upcoming time in Southern California, I wanted to reach out with a few highlights from my time here in Washington this past week.
2024 CHCI Leadership Conference
Early in the week, I had the honor of delivering opening remarks for the CHCI Leadership Conference panel titled, Resistencia Digital: Safeguarding Latino Rights, Civic Engagement and Well-being. Sadly, misinformation poses a significant threat to the Latino community that can suppress civic engagement, undermine the integrity of our electoral processes and even lead to health and financial harm.
As your congresswoman and as a Latina, I am committed to working with tech and industry leaders to improve media literacy and combat harmful misinformation within the Latino and Hispanic community.
HOPE Leadership Institute
Later that day I also had the pleasure of inviting and chatting with a few members of the HOPE Latinas Leadership Institute program. These Latinas are already local leaders throughout California and I know they will continue to do great things for our state and country!
Congratulations on your graduation from this amazing program!
California Medical Association Meeting
Later in the week, I was able to sit down with the California Medical Association and their physician leaders to discuss crucial legislation and what we can do together to ensure the best outcome for all Californians and their physicians.
Thank you for meeting with me and know I will always be a physician-patient champion in Congress!
ILO Congressional Briefing on Confronting Forced Labor
I joined the International Labour Organization to deliver remarks at a congressional briefing focused on the global dimensions of forced labor and how we can work together to fully eradicate it, including protecting children in forced labor.
As a senior member of the Ways & Means Committee and the Subcommittee on Trade, I am determined to uplift and defend labor rights in our trade agreements and programs. And I believe our trade policies need to be worker centered.
As always, if you have any questions or need help with a federal agency, please do not hesitate to contact my Whittier office at (562) 860-5050.
Sincerely,
Linda T. Sánchez
Member of Congress
