As misinformation about the asylum process runs rampant, asylum seekers have been increasingly vilified. But those seeking asylum are some of the most vulnerable members of society – children, single mothers, and victims of domestic violence, torture, or persecution. They deserve a welcoming hand, not condemnation.

Because there is no way to seek asylum in advance, those looking for refuge must show up at our border, file their request… and wait. Asylum cases can often take years. It is an excruciating wait for people who have risked everything to find a better life.
