Luca’s parents Jianine and Clark got news that no parent wants to hear: Luca had a grapefruit-sized
tumor on his right kidney. He was diagnosed with stage 3 clear cell sarcoma—a very rare cancer.
But thanks to a new treatment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, he’s cancer-free and
thriving again—as every child should be. Brave Luca finished chemo just in time for Childhood Cancer
Awareness Month.

Juice Box! Juice Box Stays at the Hospital." This special book, written by
best-selling children’s book author Drew Daywalt, introduces the people and places a kid might
encounter at the hospital in a fun, accessible way—produced with insight from a team of clinicians
at CHLA. "Hi, Juice Box!" can help kids who will be spending a lot of time in the hospital
better cope with a difficult experience.
